Sam's Wines & Spirits Hosts Molly Dooker Wine Tasting Sept. 13

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 6, 2007 -- If you've never heard of Molly Dooker, head straight to the Sam's Wines & Spirits store in Downers Grove from 5:30 to 7 pm on Thursday September 13 for a taste of seven wines from the Australian husband-and-wife team of Sarah and Sparky Marquis. Their two-year-old Molly Dooker label has already been acclaimed by the likes of influential wine critic Robert Parker, and their wine names are as quirky as the winery's own moniker (the Aussie term for left-handed).

Sparky Marquis will be in attendance at Sam's to educate tasters about the wines, explain how he and Sarah developed their own proprietary label after 10 years of building five other successful brands, and answer questions about how they came up with names like 2 Left Feet, Blue-Eyed Boy, Goosebumps and Gigglepot. The $40 admission is good toward any Sam's purchase that evening.

To register, visit www.samswine.com or call the Downers Grove store at 630-705-9463. The store is located at 2010 Butterfield Rd. just west of I-355.

The event is one of hundreds of tastings, seminars and classes sponsored by Sam's every year. Special events range from grand tastings to appearances by the world's premier wine and spirits makers, while Sam's Academy classes span topics from the world's major wine grapes and winemaking regions to wine aging and pairing food and wine.

Founded in 1946, Sam's is the country's largest independent retailer with three stores in the Chicago area that stock more than 8,000 wines, 2,500 spirits and 1,200 beers as well as a popular online store at www.samswine.com. The company has been honored as Retailer of the Year by both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator magazines, has earned several Best of the Web awards from Forbes, and was recently named the best wine store in Lincoln Park by Chicago magazine.
